PHP : An Introduction

PHP: Hypertext Processor (prior called, Personal Home Page) PHP is a HTML-implanted, server-side scripting dialect intended for web improvement. It is additionally utilized as a broadly useful programming dialect.

What should we know before starting PHP?

To start with php we should have basic idea of the following : –

  • HTML,
  • CSS and
  • Javascript.

What we can do with PHP ?

With PHP we can do following work :-

  • PHP can generate dynamic page data: – It means with help of PHP we can create dynamic data. (Dynamic Data means data can be managed/changed on server itself)
  • PHP can create, open, read, write, delete, and close files on the server:- With help of PHP we can create a file, open a file, read a file, write on a file,  delete a file and close a file.
  • PHP can collect form data:- As PHP use dynamic data control, it is also use to collect data from a form and also display that data.
  • PHP can send and receive cookies:- PHP can be used to create and destroy Cookies. (Cookies are the file made by the server  on local computer)
  • PHP can add, delete, modify data in your database:- With PHP we can add data to database(MySql database is used), delete data from database, Modify/Change the present data.
  • PHP can be used to control user-access:- PHP have the session property to control the user-access.(based on data available on database)
  • PHP can encrypt data:- As we know our password can be seen on database, but by using encrypt data our password is fully protected and our password doesn’t reflect on database too.

Why should we study PHP ?

  • PHP runs on various platforms (Windows, Linux, Unix, Mac OS X, etc.)
  • PHP is compatible with almost all servers used today (Apache, IIS, etc.)
  • PHP supports a wide range of databases
